The nationally recognized climatic health resort and winter sports center of Clausthal-Zellerfeld is a mountain town in the district of Goslar, in Lower Saxony. It lies in the Upper Harz at an altitude of between 535 and 600 meters. Lots of free-time activities and culture can be found here. While university life and economic activity are concentrated in the Clausthal part of the town, Zellerfeld offers many sites such as the Upper Harz Miner's Market, Upper Harz Mining Museum, the Tüpke-Altar of the St. Salvatoris Church and much more. Attractions in the Clausthal part of town include the "Market Church of the Holy Spirit". With it's distinctive towers it is the largest wooden church in Germany. A worthwhile trip is to the Buntenbock town district, a small climatic spa with no through traffic. It has beautiful surroundings and a unique Harz lace-making shop.
